A fresh piece of work by the stunning contemporary artist and fellow Baker, Tom German:
Within this work the artist has attempted to fuse classical lens based media with fusion shutter interplay to create a claustrophobic melancholy. Wasabi, in this context represents the apocalypse, but the middle classes apocalypse will not involve tidal waves, or hurricanes, but a closing down of artisan bread makers, or the eternal shut down of WIFI in the Camden Starbucks. The pavement is the dull grey of crushing Industrial conformity, the flat Wasabi packet the rising middle class collapsing like a flan in a hot summer cupboard…
A tour de force!
I haven’t felt so moved by art since I saw Eugenie Scrase stick a log on a fence!
I sincerely hope that this is the first of a series of conceptual art pieces by Chef Tom that could set the art world on fire. Perhaps combined with the very best pieces from our (unreleased) Wicked Pig art episode, this could form a new exhibition at the Tate Modern, entitled ‘The Art of The Bakery.’
I’ll get on the phone to Charlie Saatchi straight away…
Thank you Richard. I feel that this work would sit well alongside the Bakerys other masterpieces. We could possibly start a movement?
