EKCAPA is a project that springs largely from a love of eccentricity and enthusiasm. As people who like to parody things we are always on the look out for fresh areas to gently mock, and over a number of conversations we noticed that there were certain trends within the worlds of New Age and Conspiracy Theories that were highly amusing. The first was the penchant for leather hats, and the rest just followed from that. We then realised that, like most people who laugh at things, we were merely mocking aspects of ourselves, and this developed into the characters of Bluechip and Redshield.

It was then that the entire picture unfolded of a ‘highly committed regional group’ crusading for truth, although in reality of course they lead unfulfilling lives. This of course is a crass generalisation of the characters who make up the Conspiracy World, but comedy relies on such generalisations, and we hope it is done in such a fashion that it does not offend. More important than a cheap crack however, Al and I wanted to express that in an age of obsessive professionalism and crushingly boring conformity, it is exactly these eccentrics who should be celebrated, even if one does not agree with what they say. So EKCAPA is firstly a society, secondly a blog, and thirdly a way of life.
