Our main focus was to appeal to an audience of students, rather than a department of middle aged academic staff – which university promotional material normally appears to be aimed at. Thus the website and films are humorous and creative without being cheesy or prospectus-like.
The upshot of this was the University asking us to change one of our ‘inspiring wallpapers’ which bore the slogan “Employers Get Hard Over Barcharts.” They insisted this could be “offensive to religious people.” Apparently a belief in God causes a constitutional intolerance to innuendoes. On the other hand, references to the Crusades (where generations were murdered in the name of God) was perfectly fine. Draw your own conclusions.
Nevertheless, although we amended the University-hosted version of the site, the website itself remains unadulterated. In fact we went one better and bought the domain hard4barcharts.co.uk.
