Now, ever since The Bakery formed we have put a lot of energy into knocking, mocking, satirising, and downright piss-taking with regards to our dear University of Kent. Just as it should be. Not because we don’t love the University, and certainly not because we haven’t spent some of the best days of our life within its hallowed concrete recesses. But because the institution, and the students, can occasionally let themselves down by being a tiny bit, well, shite.
So, having previously made the ‘Konkerbury University Promotional’ video, which pointed the finger at exactly why most university promotional videos are so unutterably dreadful, we decided to redress the balance.
We wanted a video that looked and sounded good, creative, fun and unscripted. We wanted no cheese and no insincerity. We gathered together some upbeat participants and – instructing them to be honest – interviewed them in front of a green screen. The resultant footage was condensed down to a more digestible 2 minutes, then Al and Adam sat down for a 70-hour Photoshop/After Effects marathon, designing and animating all the graphics that would interact with the interviewees.
This is almost certainly the only Bakery film ever to be screened at an education conference in the Bahamas.
