After the success of our radio sitcom ‘Konkers’ Richard was keen to bring his fictional world in front of the camera. At around the same time, Alaric saw a genuine promotional video for his degree course, which he considered so offensive and shoddy that he was positively apoplectic with rage.
This film then is both a video spin-off from ‘Konkers’ and a passionate satire of low budget educational promotional material. It also forms the perfect video accompaniment to our Konkerbury University website.
This film features the first appearance of Dr. Kettle (a character cut from the radio series, but who would later appear in the BBC Radio Kent special episode) and a prototype realisation of Geoff Island before a facelift in time for his debut proper in ‘Geoff Island – Konkerbury Student’.
For those who enjoy a spot of comparing and contrasting, the original University of Kent promotional video which Al so fiercely insisted on satirising can be viewed externally as a WMV file by clicking here.
